Arsenal could reportedly sign RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko this summer, as per the journalist Charles Watts.

It was reported way before the end of the last season that the Gunners would be prioritising strengthening their frontline this summer. It initially looked like Mikel Arteta’s side were keen on signing Ivan Toney from Brentford.

However, it appears they have now cooled down their interest in him. Apart from the Englishman, Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyokeres and Alexander Isak have all been mentioned as serious targets.

However, it has recently been reported that Arsenal have identified Sesko as their primary target and have already commenced working on a deal to sign him.

Now, speaking on Inside Arsenal, Watts has predicted that if Arsenal were to sign a player apart from David Raya this summer then it is likely to be Sesko.

Sesko to Arsenal

Watts said:

“If you were to bet on a summer signing for Arsenal that isn’t named David Raya who would it be and why? Yeah, not David Raya, that’s really hard. I’d probably say Sesko at the moment with the way things are heading. But I wouldn’t be 100% convinced, but I’d probably say him.”

It has been suggested that Sesko has a £55m release clause in his current contract and the clause can be triggered this summer. So, Arsenal will have to spend big money to sign him.

After joining Leipzig from their sister club Red Bull Salzburg, Sesko enjoyed a promising debut campaign in the German top-flight last term, scoring 18 goals and registering two assists in 42 appearances in all competitions.

After being impressed by his performances, a lot of clubs have registered their interest in him apart from Arsenal with Manchester United among those.

Sesko is a highly talented forward and possesses the potential to become a top-class striker in the future. So, the 21-year-old would be a great coup for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future if they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to sign him in the upcoming transfer window.
