Arsenal are reportedly planning to hold ‘talks’ with Stade Rennais to sign Desire Doue this summer, as per Caught Offside.

Having ranked through the French side’s youth system, the 18-year-old made his senior debut back in 2022 before establishing himself as a key player for his boyhood club this season. The midfielder has enjoyed a promising campaign this term, scoring four goals and registering as many assists in 17 league starts.

Now, according to the report by Caught Offside, Arsenal have monitored the youngster’s development closely this season and after being impressed by his displays, they are now looking to ‘step up’ their efforts to sign him.

The report further claims that Mikel Arteta’s side are planning to open talks with Rennes over a potential deal to sign Doue with the French side open to letting their star man leave for a fee of around £30m.

However, Caught Offside states that the Gunners need to act quickly to get this deal done as Manchester United, Bayer Leverkusen, Aston Villa, Borussia Dortmund, Napoli and Real Madrid are also interested in purchasing him with Napoli and Leverkusen ready to accelerate their efforts.

Doue to Arsenal

The Frenchman is a technically sound player and has caught the attention with his ability to glide past opposition defenders through flashy dribbling skills. He is an attacking midfielder by traits but can also play on the left flank.

Doue can play threading passes between the lines, has an eye for long-range passing, can create chances for fellow attackers and also has the efficiency to finish off his chances. The Frenchman has a similar playing style to Philippe Coutinho and possesses high potential so he could be a shrewd signing for Arsenal if they purchase him.

However, the Rennes star is still very young and is likely to take time to settle down in the Premier League if he joins Arsenal this summer. Considering the North London club already have enough firepower in the attacking midfield position, they don’t need to sign a new option this summer.

However, if an opportunity to sign a high-class talent like Doue arises then it would be a foolish decision to let that go. So, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to sign the midfielder this summer.
