Arsenal register interest in signing Ajax star Diant Ramaj

By on May 10, 2024

Arsenal have reportedly registered their interest in signing Ajax Amsterdam star Diant Ramaj this summer, as per the Standard.

Having been appointed as the Gunners’ new boss back in 2019, Mikel Arteta has managed to build a squad that can challenge the Premier League title. After narrowly missing out on winning the league last campaign, the Spanish boss’ side have been mounting a title charge once again this season.

Arteta has built the foundation of his squad with young talents so Arsenal have a team that can remain at the top over the next few years. However, there is always room for improvement and the North London club are expected to do that in the upcoming transfer window.

They have scored the most number of goals in the Premier League this season, however, amid Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah’s struggles, Arsenal are seemingly pondering signing a new prolific goal-scorer this summer.

In addition, they are also likely to sign a new midfielder as Thomas Partey has found it difficult to stay fit in recent times, while Mohamed Elneny is expected to leave the club in the off-season. So, it has been suggested that the Emirates club are prioritising strengthening their frontline and the midfield department this summer.

Ramaj to Arsenal

However, having found it difficult to play regularly this season, Aaron Ramsdale is expected to leave the club to find regular first-team football elsewhere. So, if the Englishman were to leave the club this summer then Arsenal will need to sign a new goalkeeper to support David Raya next season.

According to the report by Standard, Arsenal have started exploring the market to sign a new goalkeeper and have identified Ramaj as a serious target. The report further claims that Arteta’s side have scouted the German this season and they have come to the conclusion that the 22-year-old would be an ideal option to play in the Spanish boss’ system as he is excellent with the ball at his feet.

However, Standard states that Ramaj wants to continue playing regular first-team football and doesn’t want the second-fiddle role. So, Arsenal could find it difficult to persuade him to join the club if they formalise their interest.

Ramaj, standing at 6ft 2in tall, is a talented goalkeeper and possesses high potential so he could be a shrewd signing for Arsenal if they purchase him. However, it is likely to be difficult to secure his signature in the upcoming transfer window.
