Arsenal are eyeing Isak and Olise for a headline summer double swoop
Arsenal are interested in signing Alexander Isak and Michael Olise in the summer window in a double swoop that could cost £165m, according to the Guardian.
With six games to go in this campaign, many things did not go as planned for Arteta and his team over the past two weeks. The Gunners slipped to a surprise home defeat to Aston Villa to derail their title push, while they also crashed out of the Champions League to Bayern Munich in midweek.
Arsenal are still in with a chance of beating Manchester City and Liverpool to the title, but whatever happens over the next six games, Arteta needs to strengthen his squad in the summer. The Spaniard needs to add depth to his squad, so come next season he’ll be able to compete on all fronts.
Isak and Olise wanted at Arsenal
According to the Guardian, Arsenal Sporting Director Edu could receive up to £200 million to spend in the summer and the North Londoners are targeting a new striker and winger.
The newspaper says Newcastle United hitman Alexander Isak and Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise are two prime targets for Arsenal.
Many expect the Gunners to sign a new frontman and Isak would be a superb addition having scored 17 goals in 24 league games for Newcastle this season.
Reports suggest that Newcastle must sell one of their top players to evade FFP sanctions, presenting the Gunners with an opportunity to sign Isak, a player they have been pursuing for years.
However, agreeing a fee won’t be easy as the Guardian suggests it could take £100m to persuade Newcastle to sell. Should they fail to sign the Swede, they should consider alternative targets like Viktor Gyokeres and Dusan Vlahovic.
Arsenal also need a wide player to ease the load on Bukayo Saka and Olise would be an excellent option. The young Frenchman is one of the most exciting attackers in the league and he’s be a terrific addition if Arsenal could fend off competition for his signature.
The Crystal Palace forward, who signed a new contract last summer, will be available in the summer for his £65 million release clause, as per the Guardian.
Most Arsenal fans would agree that Isak and Olise would be excellent signings, but the double swoop would cost £165m so it won’t be easy to get those deals over the line.
