Joshua Zirkzee tempting Arsenal to sign him in the summer
According to Tuttosport, Arsenal are ‘tempted’ to sign Bologna attacker Joshua Zirkzee this summer but face competition from Serie A giants AC Milan and Juventus.
Arsenal are reportedly looking for a top young striker this summer. Several names, including Joshua Zirkzee, have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in recent months.
The Bologna striker has been in top form in Italy, becoming a key part of Thiago Motta’s side. Though he has only 11 goals and 6 assists in 32 games, he is more influential than his numbers imply, and those who have watched him suggest that sooner or later, he will be one of the deadliest attackers in Italy.
That said, according to WhoScored, the Dutchman is a player with no clear weaknesses. And because he enjoys layoffs, dribbling, long-range shooting, and tackling, he is a player who can have a significant impact on a team’s game plan even if he does not score.
Arsenal tempted by Zirkzee
According to Tuttosport, the Dutch striker’s success this season has piqued the Gunners interest with Arsenal understood to be ‘tempted’ to sign Zirkzee this summer.
According to the report, the 22-year-old has no intention of re-joining Bayern Munich – who have a £34m buy back clause – so he could be open to the idea of moving to England with Arsenal if the opportunity arises.
However, Arsenal still face further competition as Tuttosport says AC Milan and Juventus are in the race to sign Zirkzee if the player would prefer to remain in Italy.
Bologna are demanding as much as £68 million for their No. 9, so it will be intriguing to see if the Italian sides can afford such a transfer fee. Arsenal have the financial resources to meet Bologna’s asking price, so they could be viewed as favourites to win the race for his signature.
