Arsenal are reportedly planning to make a summer swoop to sign Eintracht Frankfurt star Willian Pacho, as per the German journalist Florian Plettenberg.

After joining the Bundesliga side from Royal Antwerp FC last summer, the 22-year-old has secured his place in Dino Toppmoller’s starting eleven this season.

It seems after being impressed by the Ecuadorian’s performances in the German top-flight, the Gunners have registered their interest in signing the defender.

Writing on X, Plettenberg has reported that Arsenal are planning to reinforce their backline this summer and have identified Pacho as a key target. The journalist further claims that Frankfurt are aware of the Gunners’ interest and have slapped a £51m price tag on the defender’s head.

Plettenberg also states that Toppmoller’s side are in no rush to sell their star man as the South American still has more than four years left in his current contract. So, Arsenal will have to match the German club’s asking price to lure the defender to the Emirates Stadium.

Pacho to Arsenal

However, the journalist says that Liverpool are also interested in signing Pacho and they could make a swoop for him this summer. So, the North London club are set to face tough competition from the Merseyside club in getting any potential deal done for him.

Plettenberg wrote:

“News Pacho: The 22 y/o central defender from Eintracht Frankfurt is on the shortlist of Arsenal and Liverpool! Eintracht bosses informed about it. Eintracht demand around €60m in summer. Contract is valid until 2028. Top player and one to watch for summer transfer window.”

Pacho is a left-footed defender – who is a centre-back by traits but can also play in the left-back position. The 22-year-old is an efficient defender and possesses high potential.

With Jakub Kiwior linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium in recent times, Pacho could be a shrewd replacement for the Polish international should Arsenal opt to sell Kiwior and sign Pacho.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to acquire the Frankfurt star’s service in the upcoming transfer window.
