Arsenal have reportedly registered their interest in signing Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite, as per recent reports.

After enjoying a promising loan stint at PSV Eindhoven last term, the 21-year-old has now secured his place in Sean Dyche’s starting eleven this term.

The defender has been displaying eye-catching performances in the Premier League in recent times and it appears the youngster’s impressive performances have attracted the attention of several big clubs around Europe.

According to the report by talkSPORT(via The Sun), Arsenal are admirers of Branthwaite so they could make a swoop for him in January or next summer. The report further claims that Everton have been struggling with financial difficulties in recent times so they could be forced to cash-in on the youngster this year to stay on the right side of FFP regulations. So, Arsenal could manage to purchase the defender if they formalise their interest.

However, The Sun states that Man Utd have also been showing an interest in signing Branthwaite and in addition, Real Madrid and Newcastle United are also eyeing a swoop for him. Therefore, Arsenal are set to face tough competition from their rivals in getting any potential deal done for the 21-year-old.

Branthwaite to Arsenal

Branthwaite still has more than three and a half years left in his current contract so Everton are in a strong position to demand a big fee if they opt to cash-in on him and it has been suggested that the Toffees want a fee of around £100m.

So, Arsenal will have to break the bank to lure the Englishman to the Emirates Stadium this year. It has been suggested that the North London club can’t afford to spend big in January due to FFP regulations having splashed over £200m last summer.

Therefore, it is looking highly unlikely that Arsenal will be able to sign Branthwaite in January and they might have to wait until the summer to acquire his service.

The Everton star, standing at 6ft 4in tall, is a left-footed centre-back. He is quick, strong, good in the air, comfortable playing out from the back, excellent in defensive contributions and also possesses an excellent positional sense.

Branthwaite is a highly talented player so, he would be a great coup for Arsenal if they eventually manage to secure his signature.
