Arsenal receive boost in pursuit of Goncalo Ramos
Arsenal have received a huge boost in pursuit of Goncalo Ramos as Paris Saint-Germain are ready to cash-in on the Portuguese, as per the French outlet L’Equipe.
The Gunners have seemingly been exploring the possibility of strengthening the frontline by signing a new prolific goal-scorer. A few names have been mentioned as potential targets for Mikel Arteta’s side with Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen emerging as the primary options.
However, both of Arsenal’s key targets are valued at more than £100m by their respective clubs. So, it has recently been reported that Arsenal could look to sign Ramos from PSG as the forward would be a much cheaper option than Toney and Osimhen.
Now, according to the report by L’Equipe, PSG are ready to cash-in on the former Benfica star as he has found it difficult to showcase his best at Parc des Princes this season, scoring only four goals in 19 appearances. So, this is a huge boost for Arsenal in pursuit of Ramos.
Ramos joined PSG from Benfica in a £69m deal last summer and it is going to be interesting to see how much Luis Enrique’s side demand to let their star man leave this year.
Ramos to Arsenal
Arsenal have Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah as the centre-forward option. In addition, Kai Havertz can also play in that role if needed. However, Jesus has struggled to showcase the cutting edge in front of the goal this term and along with that, he has found it difficult to stay fit in recent times.
On the other hand, although Nketiah has scored a hat-trick against Sheffield United this term, he has been struggling to secure his place in Mikel Arteta’s starting eleven.
Havertz has been deployed in the centre-forward position amid the absence of Jesus and Nketiah, but he hasn’t been able to showcase his best in the centre-forward position.
So, I think Arsenal would be better off signing a new prolific striker to reinforce their frontline. However, there is a question mark as to whether Ramos would be the right option as he has failed to flourish in his career in the French top-flight.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal opt to make a concrete approach to sign Ramos if he eventually leaves Paris Saint-Germain this year.
