Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong in the upcoming summer window, as per the German outlet BILD.

After moving to BayArena back in 2021 from Celtic in a £10m deal, the 23-year-old has established himself as a key member in Xavi Alonso’s starting eleven in recent times, scoring five goals and registering six assists in 16 Bundesliga appearances this term.

Leverkusen are currently at the summit of the league with 42 points from 16 games and Frimpong has played a pivotal role in the German club’s impressive performances in the first half of this season.

So, it seems Frimpong’s recent eye-catching performances for Leverkusen haven’t gone unnoticed as he has been attracting a lot of attention from several big clubs around Europe with Arsenal among those to have registered their interest.

According to the report by Bild(via The Express), Frimpong has a £34m release clause included in his current contract and his exit clause can be activated at the end of this campaign.

Frimpong to Arsenal

The report further claims that the North London club already know this information and they are planning to sign the fullback for less than that figure next summer.

The Express states that Manchester United previously expressed a firm interest in signing Frimpong and they were even in advanced talks with Leverkusen to acquire the 23-year-old’s service. However, they couldn’t broker a deal so a move didn’t materialise.

However, it seems Arsenal have now jumped in front of the record Premier League champions in getting any potential deal done for the Netherlands international.

Frimpong is an attack-minded fullback, he is quick, technically sound, can play out from the back, possesses the qualities to dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, has the efficiency of finishing off chances and also can create opportunities for fellow teammates.

The Leverkusen star is a highly talented player and possesses the potential to become a top-class fullback going forward. So, he could be a great coup for Arsenal if they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually decide to formalise their interest in luring the Netherlands international to the Emirates Stadium in the upcoming summer window.
