Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has delivered a damning injury update regarding Takehiro Tomiyasu after the victory over Luton Town.

Having joined the Gunners back in 2021, the Japanese has struggled with his fitness issue over the last couple of years. He has showcased glimpses of his talent in the Premier League in recent times, however, his injury problems have prevented him from flourishing his career at the Emirates Stadium.

Having just returned to full fitness after recovering from his injury, Tomiyasu was displaying promising performances for Arsenal over the last few weeks and it was even looked like he managed to establish himself as a regular starter for Arteta’s side.

However, he picked up a fresh injury in last weekend’s game against Wolverhampton Wanderers and was limped off late into the second half. Now, speaking on the media, Arteta reveals that scan has confirmed Tomiyasu has sustained a serious injury and will now remain sidelined for a while.

Arteta said:

“We had a scan and it’s not good news for Take, unfortunately. He’s got an injury in his calf and he’s going to be out for a while.”

So, with Jurrien Timber already out injured, the pressure will now be on Ben White to play every game during this busy period. The former Brighton and Hove Albion star has returned to full fitness in recent times after recovering from his injury.

So, the North Londoners will be hoping that White will be able to keep himself fit and play his best over the coming games as Arteta doesn’t have any alternative option available at the moment to rotate his players at the right-back position.

Meanwhile, Arsenal took on Luton in the Premier League last night and although it looked like an easy assignment for the Gunners ahead of the game, the actual match was anything but that.

The North London club displayed an impressive performance versus the Hatters and found themselves ahead twice in the first half. But, Luton fought back brilliantly and equalised the game on both occasions before finding themselves ahead in the second half.

However, Arsenal eventually won the game courtesy of Declan Rice’s stoppage-time strike. So, following this victory, Arteta’s side have now managed to extend their lead at the top of the table.
