Arsenal showing serious interest in signing Kerem Akturkoglu

By on October 17, 2023

Arsenal are reportedly showing a serious interest in signing Galatasaray star Kerem Akturkoglu in the upcoming transfer window, as per the Turkish outlet Aksam.

After displaying promising performances in the Super Lig, the 24-year-old has burst onto the scenes in recent times, helping his side win the league title last term.

Cimbom has enjoyed a stellar start to their Champions League campaign this term, sitting second in the group with four points from eight games. Galatasaray managed to beat Manchester United in this competition right before the international break and Akturkoglu helped his side come away with all three points from Old Trafford by putting his name on the scoresheet.

It has recently been reported that Arsenal have been watching Akturkoglu closely in the Champions League and their scouts were present at Old Trafford in the game against the Red Devils.

It seems having been impressed by Akturkoglu’s recent displays, the Gunners have decided to register their interest in signing the Turkish international. According to the report by Aksam, Arsenal have been showing a serious interest in the Galatasaray star ahead of a potential move next year.

Akturkoglu to Arsenal

However, the report claims that Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Manchester United are also eyeing a swoop for him so the Gunners are set to face tough competition from their rivals in getting any potential deal done for the Turkish international.

Akturkoglu – valued at around £15m by Transfermarkt – is a left winger by traits but can also be deployed in the attacking midfield position. The forward is a talented player and could be a shrewd signing for Arsenal to strengthen their attack. However, the Gunners already have enough firepower in their left-wing position and don’t need to invest more to strengthen that area.

Therefore, Arsenal would be better off exploring options to reinforce other positions. Mikel Arteta is seemingly looking to sign a new striker and right-winger so I think the Emirates club should save the money to bolster these two positions rather than purchasing another left-winger.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal eventually opt to make a concrete approach to sign Akturkoglu in the upcoming transfer window.
