Arsenal remain keen on signing Galatasaray star Sacha Boey

By on October 6, 2023

Arsenal reportedly remain interested in signing Galatasaray star Sacha Boey in the upcoming transfer window, as per Turkish Football.

The Gunners entered the recently concluded summer window with the intention of signing a new defender to bolster their backline. It was suggested that Mikel Arteta was planning to sign a new right-back to support Ben White and several players were mentioned as potential targets with Boey being among them.

However, the North London club eventually decided to purchase Jurrien Timber from Ajax Amsterdam. But, following the Dutchman’s serious injury, it was thought that Arteta’s side could look to sign a new defender to add depth to their defence amid the 22-year-old’s absence. But, in the end, they didn’t do that before the deadline.

So, after deciding not to sign Boey in the recently concluded summer window, it was thought that the North London club were no longer interested in signing the Frenchman.

However, according to the report by Turkish Football, Arsenal remain keen on acquiring the Frenchman’s service and they have been keeping a close eye on his performances in the Champions League ahead of a potential move in the upcoming window.

Boey to Arsenal

The report further claims that Galatasaray are open to letting their star man leave if they receive an offer of around £17m. So, Arsenal can manage to secure the fullback’s signature for a bargain deal should they formalise their interest.

However, Turkish Football states that Wolverhampton Wanderers are also eyeing a swoop for him so the North London club are set to face stiff competition from their Premier League rivals in getting any potential deal done for Boey.

Boey is a fullback by traits, he is quick, strong, can play out from the back, is excellent going forward and is also efficient in defensive contributions. The Galatasaray star is a talented player and could be a shrewd signing for Arsenal if they purchase him.

However, having already got Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu in the squad, while Timber can also play in that role if needed, Arsenal don’t need to sign any new right-back to strengthen their defence.

But, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal eventually opt to make a concrete approach to secure Boey’s signature in the upcoming window.
