Pundit heaps praise on Arsenal star Martin Odegaard

By on October 3, 2023

Ex-Gunner turned pundit Kevin Campbell has heaped praise on Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard.

After being impressed by the 24-year-old’s displays while he was on a short-term loan deal back in 2021, Mikel Arteta opted to sign him permanently from Real Madrid in a £34m deal.

Upon moving to the Emirates Stadium, Odegaard has established himself as an integral part of Arteta’s system over the last few years and his eye-catching performances have been rewarded by making him the club captain.

Now, speaking on the Highbury squad YouTube channel, Campbell has heaped praise on Arsenal’s captain and said that the Norwegian possesses an abundance of qualities and he is an excellent player.

The pundit further states that Odegaard hasn’t been getting as much praise as he deserves. He also says that James Maddison is currently getting more praise than Odegaard but that isn’t fair.

Pundit lauds Odegaard

Campbell said:

“We’ve been saying it for a while now. This kid is special. He’s our captain and the things he can do on the ball, the vision he has, the way he lends the ball, he gives and gets it back.

“He can change direction of attack, he’s just such a clever player. I don’t think he gets the props he deserves, and I don’t mind that just yet, because believe it or not others will be speaking about another lad in north London who has played well, but this lad is extra special.”

Odegaard has been displaying impressive performances for Arsenal over the last few years and he has been showcasing glimpses that he has the qualities to help the Gunners achieve their lofty ambitions going forward.

So, it has turned out that Arsenal have made a superb business by signing Odegaard when many people doubted the decision. It is going to be interesting to see whether the Norwegian can eventually help his side win big prizes in the near future.

Meanwhile, after an excellent victory over Bournemouth last weekend, Arsenal are set to take on RC Lens today in the Champions League before facing off versus Manchester City in the Premier League next weekend. So, a couple of tough fixtures lie ahead for Arsenal just before the international break.
