Arsenal considering making a move for Alexander Bah

By on August 31, 2023

Arsenal are reportedly considering making a move for SL Benfica star Alexander Bah before the end of this window, as per the Danish outlet Tipsbladet.

The Gunners are seemingly exploring the possibility of signing a new defender following a serious knee issue picked up by new signing Jurrien Timber on his Premier League debut.

Several names have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in recent days with Eric Garcia, Marc Guehi and Perr Schuurs being among them but Bah is now emerging as a serious option.

According to the report by Tapsbladet(via the Evening Standard), Arsenal are considering signing a new defender to replace injury-stricken Timber and have now identified Bah as a serious option.

The report further claims that Benfica want at least £26m fee to let their star man leave so it remains to be seen whether Arsenal opt to lure the Denmark international before Friday’s deadline by spending the reported fee.

Bah to Arsenal

After moving to the Estadio da Luz last summer, the 25-year-old has established himself as an integral part of Benfica’s first eleven, helping his side win the Liga Portugal title last term.

So, it seems having been impressed by the Dane’s recent displays, Arsenal have decided to register their interest in signing him to bolster their backline.

Bah is a right-back by traits but can also be deployed in the right flank. The Scandinavian, standing at 6ft tall, is technically sound, good in the air, comfortable playing out from the back, can deliver excellent crosses from wide areas and also excellent in defensive contributions.

So, Bah possesses the necessary qualities to flourish in the Premier League therefore, he would be an excellent signing for Arsenal should they eventually purchase him before tomorrow’s deadline. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether Arteta’s side opt to formalise their interest over the coming hours.

Meanwhile, following a disappointing draw against Fulham last weekend, the Gunners will be hoping to bounce back immediately on Sunday afternoon when they will face off against Manchester United in the Premier League. So, a tough fixture lies ahead for Arsenal right before the international break.
