Arsenal ready to accelerate efforts to sign Rice this summer
Arsenal are reportedly ready to accelerate their efforts to sign West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice after the Hammers’ Conference League final clash against Fiorentina next week, as per the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
It has widely been suggested that the Gunners have prioritised strengthening their engine room this summer and have identified Rice as the primary target.
It has previously been reported that Mikel Arteta’s side started laying the groundwork early to stay ahead of their rivals in the race to purchase the 24-yeard-old.
Now, writing on Twitter, Romano has said that Arsenal are putting together an official proposal to sign Rice this summer and they will submit the bid after next week’s Conference League final.
Romano wrote:
“Arsenal official bid for Declan Rice will be submitted after the Europa League final. Plan very clear.”
Rice to Arsenal
It has been reported that Arsenal are preparing to table a staggering £92m offer to persuade West Ham to sell their star man. However, David Moyes’ side have already said that they want at least £100m for Rice. So, it remains to be seen whether the East London club will accept the Gunners’ opening proposal or not.
Meanwhile, it has been suggested that Man Utd and Bayern Munich are also keen on signing Rice so they could make a summer swoop for him. But, Rice previously expressed his desire to stay in London so it seems Arsenal are currently in an advantageous position over their rivals to secure the Englishman’s signature.
Rice usually plays as the deep-lying midfielder but he can also be deployed in the box-to-box role. He is technically sound, good in the air, can play threading passes between the lines, has an eye for long-range passing and is also excellent in defensive contributions.
Rice has already showcased his talent in the Premier League over the last few years and is now deemed one of the best midfielders in the English top-flight. So, purchasing a talent like him would be a great coup for Arsenal if they manage to lure him to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
It is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal eventually manage to sign Rice in the upcoming transfer window to strengthen their midfield department.
