Arsenal have reportedly been showing an interest in signing AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali this summer, as per 90min.

Despite purchasing Jorginho during the winter window, it has widely been suggested that the Gunners are looking to strengthen their engine room to bolster their squad for next season.

Declan Rice has been mentioned as their primary target but along with the West Ham star, it has been reported that Moises Caicedo, Mason Mount and Martin Zubimendi are also on their radar. However now, Tonali is emerging as a serious target for Mikel Arteta’s side.

The Gunners hold a long-term interest in the Milan star as it was reported at the beginning of this season that Arsenal were eyeing a swoop for the 22-year-old.

However, the Londoners never made a concrete approach to sign the midfielder so a deal didn’t materialise and, in the end, the Italian stayed at San Siro. But, it appears Arsenal haven’t cooled down their interest and remain keen on signing Tonali.

Tonali to Arsenal

According to the report by 90min, Arsenal have been keeping a close eye on Tonali’s progress and they scouted him in the weekend’s game against AS Roma ahead of a potential summer move. So, Arsenal could decide to formalise their interest and finally sign their long-term target at the end of this season.

However, the report claims that Arsenal are set to face tough competition from city rivals Chelsea and Tottenham in getting any potential deal done for Tonali as the London rivals are also plotting a swoop for him.

Tonali has already established himself as a key first-team member for Milan at a very tender age and has been playing a pivotal role in the Rossoneri’s success in recent times.

Tonali is a versatile midfielder – who can play anywhere across the middle of the park. He is technically sound, dynamic, can create chances for the attackers, is excellent in taking set-pieces, and also works extremely hard without possession.

The Milan star – valued at around £44m by Transfermarkt – would be an excellent addition if Arsenal manage to lure him to the Emirates Stadium this summer. So, it is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal decide to formalise their interest to purchase the midfielder at the end of this season.
