Arsenal are reportedly ready to make a summer swoop for Real Madrid midfielder Brahim Díaz, as per the Italian outlet Sport Mediaset.

The 23-year-old was deemed one of the best young talents in Europe during his time at Manchester City. But, the midfielder struggled to continue his development after moving to Estadio Santiago Bernabeu back in 2019 and having failed to find his feet in La Liga, the youngster has been shifted out on loan to AC Milan to revive his career.

The midfielder has showcased glimpses of his talent in the Italian top-flight, helping his side in winning the 19th Scudetto last term. After being impressed by the youngster’s recent displays, it appears Mikel Arteta – who previously worked with Diaz during his time at Man City as Pep Guardiola’s assistant – is looking to reunite with his compatriot at the Emirates Stadium.

According to the report by Sport Mediaset, Milan are looking to sign Diaz permanently and the midfielder is also open to staying at the San Siro Stadium. But, the Rossoneri aren’t prepared to pay the £19m buy option to get the deal done and are willing to negotiate with Los Blancos to broker this deal for a cheaper fee.

Diaz to Arsenal

However, the report says that Arsenal have set their sights on purchasing the Spain international and they are looking to beat Milan in this race by submitting an official £26m bid.

Arteta likes to purchase versatile players who can be deployed in several positions. Diaz would be an ideal option as he can play anywhere across the attacking midfield positions and his most impressive attribute is that he is comfortable on both feet.

The Spaniard is technically sound, can play threading passes between the lines, can create chances for the forward players, has an eye for scoring goals and also works extremely hard without possession.

With Arsenal looking to bring in a new right winger to support Bukayo Saka, Diaz could be an excellent acquisition if they manage to get this deal done.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal decide to make a concrete approach to sign the 23-year-old at the end of this season.
