Arsenal to table fresh £75m bid for Moises Caicedo
Arsenal are set to launch a fresh bid to sign Moises Caicedo and will test Brighton’s resolve with an offer of £70m up front plus £5m add-ons, according to The Sun.
It has widely been reported that the Gunners are keen on strengthening their squad this month in order to maintain their title charge. They have already made two major acquisitions to bolster the squad this winter and have now shifted their focus on reinforcing the midfield following Mohamed Elneny’s injury.
Mikel Arteta’s side have identified Caicedo as their priority target to strengthen the engine room and have intensified their efforts to make this deal happen before tomorrow’s deadline.
Brighton have already rejected two offers from Arsenal, the last was reportedly worth £70m – which consisted of £65m up front and £5m in bonuses.
Caicedo to Arsenal
However, Arsenal haven’t given up hope of securing a deal for 21-year-old before the window closes tomorrow night and The Sun claims the Gunners are now set to return with a third offer.
According to the newspaper, the Gunners will offer £70m up front with £5m in add-ons. That would make it a club record deal for Arsenal if Brighton were to accept, as it would surpass the £72m they paid Lille for Nicolas Pepe.
Caicedo has already released a statement expressing his desire to leave Brighton and seal a dream move to London, and he was left out of their FA Cup win over Liverpool on Sunday having missed training.
It remains to be seen whether Brighton will accept Arsenal’s latest offer but it’s getting a lot closer to their reported £80m valuation, so there is a chance this deal could be agreed before the window slams shut.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming hours but Caicedo would be an excellent signing for Arsenal if they could pull it off, as he’d provide top class competition for Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka in the middle of the park.
