Mykhaylo Mudryk

Arsenal will reportedly have to spend around €50m (£44m) to sign Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk, as per the transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The 21-year-old has emerged as a potential target for the Gunners after they were strongly linked during the closing stages of the summer transfer window. The youngster has enjoyed a great start to the new Champions League campaign this term with the Ukrainian giants, scoring twice and notching up as many assists in two appearances.

The forward earlier expressed his desire to play in the Premier League and said that it would be hard for him to turn down an offer from Arsenal if Mikel Arteta’s side decide to make a move for him in January.

Writing on CaughtOffside, Romano has claimed that Shakhtar will want at least €45-50m (£39-44m) in order to allow the departure of their star man, Mudryk. However, this price tag could change depending on the winger’s performance in the Champions League.

The journalist further states that Arsenal will have to face competition from other clubs for the 21-year-old’s signature as many teams are also eyeing a move for the highly-rated forward. But nothing has been finalized yet regarding Mudryk’s future and the Ukrainian club will wait before making the final decision.

Mudryk to Arsenal

Romano said:

“Despite growing speculation, I have no updates on Mudryk now – I think he will be linked with 15 clubs in the next three months, and it’s normal as he’s a top talent, but nothing will be decided now.

“Shakhtar will take their time and I’m sure they want more than €45-50m for Mudryk … but we’ve to see how his performances in the Champions League will be in the next weeks.”

Mudryk will be an excellent acquisition for Arsenal. The youngster has already showcased his talent at the highest level of European football this campaign and the Emirates faithful will be hoping that he will be able to replicate the same performance in north London if he were to join the club in January.

Arsenal lack options on the flanks as after Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, there aren’t many options available at Arteta’s disposal who have the experience of playing at the top.

Although Marquinhos has showcased glimpses of his talent in his Arsenal debut against FC Zurich in the Europa League, he is still very young and needs time to develop, while Reiss Nelson is currently injured and hasn’t featured in any of the games so far this season.

So, signing a new winger in January will be a shrewd decision by the club’s hierarchy and Mudryk could be a perfect addition to Arsenal’s squad.
