Jesper Lindstrom

Arsenal have reportedly identified Eintracht Frankfurt’s versatile midfielder Jesper Lindstrom as their priority target to strengthen the midfield, as per the 90min.

The 22-year-old joined the Bundesliga side last summer from Brondby. The youngster enjoyed a decent debut campaign at the Deutsche Bank Park, scoring five goals and registering as many assists in 39 appearances in all competitions. He also helped his side in winning the Europa League title last term.

According to the report by 90min, the Gunners have made Eintracht Frankfurt star Jesper Lindstrom their priority transfer target to bolster the midfield department in the winter transfer window.

The Denmark international still has four years remaining in his current contract with Oliver Glasner’s side and is valued at around £15m by Transfermarkt. So, he would be a relatively cheap option for the north London club if they formalise their interest.

Lindstrom to Arsenal

Lindstrom could be an interesting option for Arsenal. The 22-year-old likes to play in the more advanced midfielder role but the Gunners already have enough firepower in that position. So, they don’t need to invest there in the January transfer window.

The youngster hasn’t been the most prolific player during his time at Frankfurt and therefore, I think Mikel Arteta’s side shouldn’t make a move for him in January.

The former Brondby man is still young and has plenty of room to develop before taking the next step in his career. So, the Denmark international might not be the right option for the north London club at this moment.

Arsenal lack depth in their midfield and flanks. Therefore, they need to add more firepower in those two areas in the January transfer window. Youri Tielemans and Douglas Luiz have been mentioned as the potential targets for Arteta’s side to strengthen their engine room, while Mykhaylo Mudryk has been touted as the top target to bolster the flanks.

It will be interesting to see what Arsenal will do in the winter transfer window. Adding more options to their squad will help the Spanish boss to achieve success this season. However, Lindstrom might not be the right option for the north London club.
