Arsenal are reportedly planning to offer new long-term contracts to Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and William Saliba, as per Fabrizio Romano.

The Gunners have enjoyed a great start to this new campaign, with Saka, Martinelli and Saliba having been an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s first eleven this term.

After spending three consecutive loan spells in the Ligue 1, the French defender finally got his chance at the Emirates Stadium and took no time to secure his place in the Spanish boss’ starting eleven this season.

Writing on CaughtOffside, Romano has claimed that Arsenal have been in talks with Saka since February in order to tie the youngster down in a long-term contract. Arteta is ‘optimistic’ about extending the Englishman’s deal due to the fact that the forward loves the club and is happy at the Emirates Stadium. Offering a new deal to the England international is the priority for the north London club.

The journalist further states that Martinelli and Saliba are the next in line to be offered new deals. However, nothing has been finalized yet regarding these contract extensions.

Arsenal preparing to offer new deals to star trio

“Talks have been ongoing between Arsenal and Bukayo Saka since February. He’s happy at the club and loves Arsenal, this is why Arteta is optimistic. For Arsenal it is a priority, we will see the timing in the coming months.

“Martinelli is another player on the list for contract extension, and Saliba too – nothing completed yet.”

Saka, Saliba and Martinelli’s contracts will expire in June 2024. Therefore, it will be a shrewd decision by the club’s hierarchy to finalise negotiations with them before the end of this season.

They have established themselves as key players in Arteta’s system and the Spanish boss wouldn’t want to lose his star performers any time soon. So, Arsenal should wrap up the contract talks with the star trio as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, after last weekend’s Premier League fixture against Everton, Arsenal’s midweek game against PSV Eindhoven in the Europa League has now also been postponed. So, Arteta’s side will return to action next Sunday when they take on Brentford at the Community Stadium.
