Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans is reportedly keen on joining Arsenal this summer, as per the transfer journalist Ben Jacobs.

The Belgium international is widely touted as the Gunners’ priority target to strengthen their midfield department this summer. The 25-year-old’s future is one of the main topics of discussion in this transfer window as the Foxes’ star has entered the final year of his current contract and has rejected an opportunity to extend his deal.

Meanwhile, speaking on GiveMeSport, transfer Insider Dean Jones has stated that Tielemans’ desire to leave Leicester and find a new challenge at a bigger club has been made aware to the Foxes’ boss Brendan Rodgers.

The journalist also claims that the midfielder could leave the King Power Stadium this week if Arsenal finally submit the official offer.

Jones said:

“Brendan Rodgers knows that Tielemans is still seeking a move to a bigger club, so he was trying to protect his team by leaving him out. It didn’t really work out, but I am told he could still leave this week if the offer from Arsenal finally lands.”

Arsenal want to sign Tielemans

On the other hand, writing on Twitter, Ben Jacobs has stated that although Tielemans wants to join Arsenal and the deal is still ‘very possible’, the Gunners need to act quickly and get this deal over the line, otherwise, the journalist believes Liverpool might enter the fray and ‘consider a late-window bid’ for the highly-rated midfielder.

Jacobs said:

“As an aside, Arsenal better hurry if they want Youri Tielemans. Wouldn’t remotely surprise me if Liverpool change their stance and consider a late-window bid. Tielemans still wants Arsenal and a move remains very possible. #LCFC braced for offers.”

Leicester want around £30m for their star man and it was earlier reported that the north London club believe the Foxes’ valuation is too high for a player who will be available for free in less than 12 months.

So, it will be interesting to see whether Arsenal will find an agreement with Leicester for Tielemans or they will switch their focus on alternative options. Nevertheless, The Gunners need more depth in their engine room and I believe the Belgian would fit into Mikel Arteta’s system perfectly.
