£80m star begs club to let him join Arsenal as Emery asks bosses to fund big-money move
According to the Daily Mail, Wilfried Zaha has begged Crystal Palace to let him join Arsenal this summer and Unai Emery has asked club bosses to fund a big-money swoop for the £80m-rated winger.
Emery is looking to strengthen his ranks this summer following a disappointing season and a wide forward is desperately needed as we lack any genuine width in the squad at present.
Zaha has widely been touted as the bosses main target but we’ve been priced out of a move after failing to qualify for the Champions League after Palace slapped an £80m price-tag on his head, according to the Daily Mail.
However, it looks like Zaha is doing his best to force through a move as the newspaper says the 26-year-old has informed Palace he wants to join Arsenal and has pleaded with his current club to reach an agreement with us.
The Mail says Zaha supported Arsenal as a child and is hoping chairman Steve Parish will lower his demands to strike a deal to allow him to fulfill his dream of moving to the Emirates.
It remains to be seen whether the Eagles will be prepared to alter their valuation but the report says Emery has asked Arsenal chiefs so somehow find the money to land Zaha this summer.
We’ve only got around £45m to spend and Emery needs to buy a full-back, centre-back, midfielder and a winger so realistically we’re going to have to sell in order to afford our transfer plans.
The likes of Mesut Ozil, Shkodran Mustafi, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Mohamed Elneny are salable assets but we’re struggling to find buyers so I hope we aren’t forced to cash-in on someone like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as that would be a disaster.
Let’s see how things develop but I pray we are able to somehow afford Zaha as he would be an excellent addition to the squad.
