[Photos] 27-year-old returns to Arsenal training ahead of Southampton trip
Aaron Ramsey was back in full training with the rest of the first team today ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League trip to Southampton on Sunday afternoon.
The 27-year-old missed last Sunday’s 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town after picking up an ankle injury during the 2-2 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford and was also ruled out of our Europa League win over Qarabag in midweek.
Unai Emery said he hoped the Welshman would be able to resume full training on either Friday or Saturday in order to put himself in contention to face Southampton on Sunday afternoon.
It looks like Ramsey will be back in the squad as he’s been snapped taking part in training this afternoon as the players undertook their final preparations before heading to the south coast.
Mesut Ozil is also back in contention after starting his first game in almost a month with a run out against Qarabag while Laurent Koscielny should also feature against Southampton tomorrow after making his comeback from a long-term injury on Thursday night.
Several regulars are set for recalls against the Saints with the likes of Bernd Leno, Hector Bellerin, Sead Kolasinac, Granit Xhaka, Lucas Torreira and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all due to return after being rested.
Sokratis and Shkodran Mustafi both trained today but neither will be available tomorrow as they’re suspended while Rob Holding and Danny Welbeck are out with long-term injuries.
