[Photos] Emery injury boost: Arsenal star trains ahead of crucial Tottenham showdown
Arsenal have been handed a huge fitness boost as Alexandre Lacazette has been snapped in training ahead of Sunday afternoon’s North London Derby with Tottenham.
Lacazette was an early doubt for the game after missing the 2-1 victory over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium last weekend having picked up a groin injury during the November international break.
The 27-year-old wasn’t involved in our Europa League group stage win over Vorskla in Kiev on Thursday night as he was left back in north London to get himself fit ahead of the derby.
It looks like Lacazette will be in contention to return to action tomorrow as the striker has been photographed taking part in full training with the rest of the first team at London Colney on Saturday afternoon.
His return will be a big boost as Lacazette has established himself as our first choice striker this season with the Frenchman pushing top scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang out to the wing.
It will be interesting to see how Unai Emery lines-up against Spurs as he has plenty of selection decisions to make. The boss played a back three at Bournemouth but is expected to revert to a flat back four tomorrow and Sokratis, Rob Holding and Shkodran Mustafi are battling for the two centre-back positions.
Mesut Ozil wasn’t involved at all in our last two matches so the German playmaker is pushing for a recall get a recall but Nacho Monreal is still out with a hamstring injury while Laurent Koscielny won’t be involved as he’s still lacking match fitness.
We go searching for a win tomorrow that would see us move level on points with third-placed Tottenham and extend our unbeaten run to 19 games in all competitions.
