[Player Ratings] Palace 2-3 Arsenal: Sanchez & Wilshere shine for Gunners

By on December 28, 2017

Alexis Sanchez scored twice as Arsenal beat Crystal Palace 3-2 in an exciting game at Selhurst Park this evening.

Mustafi put us ahead with a fine finish before Palace grabbed an undeserved equaliser shortly after half-time. Sanchez restored our lead with a fine finish before latching on to a superb Wilshere ball to make it 3-1.

Palace pulled one back during the closing stages but we held on to secure a vital 3-2 win that sees us move to within just one point of fourth placed Liverpool.

Here are my ratings:

Cech  6/10 | Two shots on target and two goals conceded. Neither were particularly Cech’s fault but it’s not good reading.

Koscielny  5/10 | No attempt made to block Townsends shot for his goal. Just stood there and watched it go in. Also beaten by Tomkins for the second goal. Poor form continues.

Mustafi  6.5/10 | Excellent first-time finish to open the scoring and was solid at the back.

Chambers  5/10 | Allowed Zaha to get his cross in for their equaliser and was given a tough time by the winger all evening.

Wilshere  8/10 | Stunning pass to assist Sanchez for his second goal and ran the show for much of the game. Great overall performance.

Xhaka  6/10 | Pretty average display from Xhaka again before limping off with a suspected groin problem.

Bellerín  6/10 | Missed a great chance to score just after the break. Hector was dangerous going forward but defensively poor.

Kolasinac  6.5/10 | Heavily involved down the left and exchanged some lovely moves with Sanchez and Ozil. Didn’t track Townsend for his goal though.

Sánchez  8.5/10 | MUCH better from Alexis. He was clearly motivated tonight as he was all over the pitch. Superb finish to make it 2-1 and a wonderful touch/finish to make it 3-1. Best performance of the season.

Özil  7/10 | Forced a great save from Speroni after being found by Sanchez in the first half and exchanged some lovely passes with his team mates.

Lacazette  7/10 | Superb work rate and it was his effort that lead to the opening goal and set-up Sanchez for our second. Didn’t get too many chances to score himself though.

Subs:

Coquelin  6/10 | Brought on to tighten things up but had the opposite affect.

Maitland-Niles  N/A
