Confirmed line-ups: Arsenal vs Atletico Madrid – MLS & Eze start for Gunners
Arsenal take on Atletico Madrid at the Emirates Stadium tonight in the second leg of our Champions League semi-final.
The tie is finely poised at 1-1 after the draw in Madrid last week so it’s all to play for in North London this evening as Arsenal look to book their place in the final.
Mikel Arteta has named an unchanged line-up from the side that beat Fulham at the weekend. That means, unsurprisingly, David Raya keeps goal once again for Arsenal while Ben White continues at right-back in the absence of Jurrien Timber.
Riccardo Calafiori retains his place at left-back ahead of Piero Hincapie while William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes marshal the back four.
Myles Lewis-Skelly is rewarded for his superb display at the weekend as he keeps his place in midfield meaning Martin Zubimendi is on the bench. Declan Rice starts once again for Arsenal and hopefully he can put in another all-action performance in the middle of the park.
Eberechi Eze starts in the attacking midfield role so the returning Martin Odegaard has to make-do with a place on the bench.
Bukayo Saka was superb in the opening 45 minutes against Fulham and he retains his place on the right-wing so Noni Madueke is among the substitutes. Leandro Trossard is also preferred ahead of Gabriel Martinelli on the left flank.
Viktor Gyokeres put-in one of his best performances in an Arsenal shirt at the weekend and he leads the line up front tonight. Kai Havertz is back in the squad after recovering from a muscle issue so he’s an option from the bench.
These are the line-ups:
Arsenal
Raya, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori, Rice, Lewis-Skelly, Eze, Saka, Gyokeres, Trossard
Subs: Kepa, Setford, Mosquera, Hincapie, Odegaard, Jesus, Martinelli, Norgaard, Madueke, Havertz, Zubimendi, Dowman
