Arsenal plot ambitious swoop to sign Khvicha Kvaratskhelia
Arsenal are reportedly planning to make an ambitious swoop to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, as per Sky Sports.
After helping Napoli win the Serie A title, the 25-year-old moved to Parc des Princes in January last year. In his debut campaign, he helped Les Parisiens win the treble last term.
This season, the forward has continued to showcase his productivity, scoring 17 goals and registering 10 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions.
Moreover, he has been guiding his side to mount a Ligue 1 title charge and has helped them reach the Champions League final.
Now, Sky Sports report that Arsenal are planning to reinforce the left flank and have identified Kvaratskhelia as a serious option after being impressed by his recent eye-catching performances.
Apart from the Georgian, the Gunners have lined up Newcastle United ace Anthony Gordon as a target. On the other hand, Arsenal also want a new striker and are keen on signing Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez.
The report state that Arsenal are in a strong position from a financial point of view, but they are looking to raise funds by selling some players, with sustainability a priority.
Kvaratskhelia to Arsenal
Kvaratskhelia is a right-footed left-winger by trait but is also efficient on the opposite side. He is quick, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, and also works hard without possession.
The PSG star is currently at the prime stage of his career and is considered one of the best forwards in the world. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they purchase him.
Arsenal currently have Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard as options to deploy on the left flank. However, the Brazilian has been struggling to showcase his best in the Premier League in recent years.
On the other hand, Trossard enjoyed a bright start to this season but hasn’t been able to continue the momentum. He has entered his 30s, and his existing deal is set to expire at the end of next season. So, Arsenal could do with signing a new forward this summer.
It is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure Kvaratskhelia’s services.
