VIDEO: Giroud Bags Goal + Assist As France Thrash Switzerland
Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has been in action this evening and he played a key role in helping France thrash Switzerland 5-2 to book their place in the knockout stages.
Giroud opened the scoring with a superb header before Matuidi made it 2-0 just seconds later with a tidy finish. Giroud then set up the third with a superb cross following a stunning break away, this time it was Valbuena who swept home.
Arsenal target Karim Benzema and Newcastle midfielder Mousa Sissoko made it 5-0 before the Swiss pulled two goals back late on.
It’s great to see Giroud playing so well and he really looked fresh and confident tonight. I’m backing the French to go far in this tournament based on their performances so far.

Obviously Giroud is a good player. It is only the haters who reside in “justarsenal.com” that don’t see it. Remember last season he almost carried our forward line single handed. He scored crucial goals, made assists and even defended especially set pieces. The haters will never see anything good in Giroud but true gooners know fully well Giroud value to the team. Here is a player with an abundance of energy, one who will not be intimidate by rough play. Giroud’s strength and resilience enabled him to move on despite several attempts by some defenders to disable him. He has now vindicated himself by shining on the big stage to shame the detractors! I have read some comments on “justarsenal.com” by the usual naysayers who tried to downplay Giroud’s great performance yesterday where they claimed that he only shines against small teams. Well does it mater whether you score against a big or small team? A goal is a goal no matter who you score against. But above all this world cup has dispelled the myth of big and small teams. Where is Spain and England? Italy and Uruguay are also struggling for dear life after losing to,of all teams,Costa Rica! Brazil failed to break down Mexico. Where then is the concept of big and small teams except in the heads of a few Giroud haters who will never see anything good about him. Such is the misery of haters. No wonder they walk with bowed heads instead of walking with their heads up.
