Calum Chambers is set to join Fulham on loan while Lucas Perez is being linked with West Ham as Arsenal look to offload some fringe players before Thursday’s deadline.

Unai Emery has conducted the majority of his transfer business after splashing out around £70m on five new signings in recent weeks but he needs to sell before he can bring in any more new recruits.

It looks like Emery is in the market for another centre-back as we’ve been linked with Domagoj Vida and Jerome Boateng today so one of our current crop needs to make way and it seems Chambers is the man set to be sacrificed.

The Daily Mail are one of several media outlets reporting that Arsenal have agreed a deal with Fulham for Chambers to move to Craven Cottage on a season-long loan.

The 23-year-old only signed a new long-term contract last month and has featured heavily in pre-season so many fans thought Chambers was going to play a key role under Emery.

However, it seems he hasn’t done enough to convince the Arsenal boss he should be part of his plans as the Daily Mail says Chambers is set to undergo a medical at Fulham ahead of his loan move.

And we could see a second player leave the Emirates soon as the Mirror claim that West Ham are closing-in on a £5m deal to sign Lucas Perez before the window slams shut.

Perez has endured a tough time at Arsenal since arriving from Deportivo for £17m two years ago and spent last season back on loan at his former club in Spain.

The striker had hoped for a fresh start under Emery but the newspaper says Perez isn’t part of our plans this season and he could be on his way to the Hammers for just £5m.

That seems like a terrible deal for Arsenal as despite his bit-part role at the club, Perez has shown enough quality when he’s been given the chance to warrant a transfer fee of at least £15m in today’s market.

I’m also disappointed to see Chambers go but if losing him and Perez means Arsenal bring in another centre-back and a wide attacker this summer then I’d be a happy man.
