[Ratings] Stoke 1-4 Arsenal: Sanchez ignites top four hopes
Arsenal got right in the mix for the top four after beating Stoke City 4-1 at the Bet365 Stadium this evening.
Olivier Giroud scored two while Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil also got on the scoresheet as we closed the gap on Liverpool to just one point.
Here are my ratings:
Cech 6.5/10 | Made another couple of solid saves and could do nothing about the Crouch ‘goal’.
Mustafi 6.5/10 | Couple of rash tackles but battled well against a tough Stoke side.
Holding 7/10 | Another impressive display from the youngster. Came through a big test well.
Koscielny 7/10 | Back from his injury and marshalled the back three again. Lost Crouch for his goal.
Coquelin 7.5/10 | Lovely ball in the build-up to the opener. Surprisingly good display.
Xhaka 7/10 | Controlled the game from the middle of the park. Growing with every game.
Bellerin 7/10 | Inch-perfect cross to set-up Giroud for the opener. Great outlet on the right.
Monreal 7/10 | Hit the post at 0-0 and was a danger down the left. Prefer him on the wing than the back three.
Ozil 8/10 | Beautiful first touch and finish to make it 2-0. Great to see him on the scoresheet again. Great overall performance.
Sanchez 8.5/10 | Stunning assist for Ozil’s goal and scored the crucial third. Gave the Stoke defence all sorts of trouble.
Giroud 8/10 | Simple finish to make it 1-0 and swept home the fourth late on.
Subs:
Ramsey 7/10 | Great assist for Giroud’s second.
Walcott [N/A], Welbeck [N/A]
WATCH: See the goals from Arsenal’s 4-1 win at Stoke
This was a huge win and it puts the pressure firmly on Liverpool to get a result at West Ham tomorrow. If they slip up, we can take full advantage by beating Sunderland next week.
