Wenger: “Draxler Will Stay At Schalke”
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is doing his pre-match press conference this morning and predictably he’s been asked for the latest on his pursuit of Julian Draxler.
The German international has been this months big talking point with widespread reports suggesting we could be closing in on a stunning £37m deal.
Sadly, the boss has ruled out signing the attacking midfielder, saying his interest has been created by the newspapers and insists the player will remain at Schalke.
Wenger: "The Draxler situation has been created by the newspapers, not by me. He will stay at Schalke" #AFCvCPFC http://t.co/m6MX2b8ITd

Of course Wenger is renowned for playing his cards close to his chest and telling porkies to the press, so we shouldn’t read too much into his comments. Plus things can change very quickly with transfers.
However, when we couple this with the reports from the papers this morning that claim Wenger is refusing to meet Schalke’s £37m asking price, it does seem highly unlikely that Draxler will be joining Arsenal today.
Hopefully Arsene has a surprise in store for us, but he’s not himself a lot of time to get something done.
