Wenger Confirms Midfielder Will Miss Three Weeks

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that new signing Krystian Bielik wont be considered for three weeks as he’s not yet match fit.

We wrapped up the signing of the 17-year-old defensive midfielder on Wednesday after agreeing a £2.3m deal with Legia Warsaw.

There were some reports suggesting that Arsene would throw the teenager straight into action for this Sunday’s FA Cup fourth round clash with Brighton.

However, when asked about his potential involvement this weekend at his press conference this morning, Wenger confirmed to reporters that Bielik isn’t match fit as he’s just come off the back of a winter break in Poland and will take 3 weeks to get back up to speed.

“He comes from Poland, has just turned 17 and is not fit.

“They have had their winter break in Poland and that is quite long. He is at the start to get back to full fitness and he is back in three weeks.”

While he sounds like he’s a real talent and should have a bright future ahead of him, I’d be hugely surprised if we see Bielik make any real impact on the first team this season.

He’s only played a handful of games for Legia so I don’t see how he’ll be ready to push for a starting spot with us any time soon. He’ll have a job replacing Francis Coquelin or Mathieu Flamini but I suppose with Arteta out for the long-term, he might be needed if anything happens to those two.

But let’s hope is doesn’t come to that but he could find himself out his depth if we thrust a 17-year-old straight into Premier League action.
