TEAM: Giroud & Koscielny Out! Arsenal Line-Up To Face Newcastle
Arsenal entertain Newcastle United at the Emirates on Saturday evening. This is the starting eleven I’d like to see Arsene Wenger go with…..
Szczesny was restored in goal against Galatasaray in midweek after recovering from a hip injury. As well as Martinez played during his absence, I think Szczesny is our long-term No.1 so let’s get him back in top form going into Christmas.
We have real problems at the back. Arsene confirmed earlier that Koscielny is set to miss his third game with a calf injury so with Chambers suspended following his sending off last weekend, we have just one (Mertesacker) recognised centre-back available.
If Isaac Hayden was fit I’d say start him, but as he’s still recovering from an ankle injury I think the only option we have is to start Debuchy at centre-back with Bellerin at right-back. It’s far from ideal but this is what happens when we don’t strengthen the right areas during the summer.
Ramsey is expected to pass a late fitness test on a hamstring injury so he’ll play alongside Flamini again as Arteta is still out with a calf problem, and obviously Wilshere isn’t going to be back until late February.
Walcott has returned to training but the boss says he’s still not fit enough to play this weekend so I’d keep The Ox on the right wing with Sanchez playing from the left.
Cazorla was rested in midweek so hopefully he’ll be fresh and I’d go with Welbeck up front as I think he offers more than Giroud does overall.
So this is how I’d line-up:
If Arsene wants to rest Oxlade-Chamberlain then I’d go with Podolski on the left and Sanchez on the right. However, I have a feeling Arsene will start with Giroud up front and Welbeck on the wing.
Either way, despite our squad being decimated by injuries once again, I hope we’ll have enough to beat Newcastle and get back on track after the disaster against Stoke last week.
Let’s pray for three points and NO MORE INJURIES!
