[Video] Jack Wilshere: His Emirates Cup Touches
[viddler id=c578a9f0&w=450&h=320]
None of us will likely soon forget Jack Wilshere’s performances over the two-day 2009 Emirates Cup. In fact, it seemed more as if it were one long fantastic match for the youngster. Short-term ramifications from that weekend are that Jack made his first U-21 appearance when he subbed on against Holland yesterday in the 2nd half. Long-term ramifications, of course, are still to be determined, but it shows how much he excited the entire country and Arsenal supporters across the entire globe that he is now being talked about, realistically or not, as a possible candidate for the 2010 World Cup side, despite not being a regular first-teamer at Arsenal.
He has been hailed as the “new Liam Brady,” due in large part to the fact that not only is he immensely talented but he is also left-footed. There is just something about a graceful, intelligent, and technical left-footed player that Arsenal fans especially love and Jack is the complete package. And, all of a sudden, with Kieran Gibbs and Jack Wilshere gaining stature in England’s international set-up and with Henri Lansbury not far behind, criticism that Wenger does nothing for English football seems to have waned and, likely, for good.
