Arsenal have reportedly held talks to sign AFC Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi, as per TEAMtalk.

After moving to Vitality Stadium from Lorient, the 20-year-old enjoyed a promising debut campaign in the Premier League last term, scoring 13 goals in 21 starts.

He even showed a tendency to step up in big games, scoring against Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and the Gunners.

TEAMtalk state that after being impressed by his performances, several big clubs around Europe expressed their interest in him last summer, with Tottenham Hotspur, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Barcelona among them.

However, following his foot injury, the potential suitors decided not to make a move for him. But he has now returned to full fitness, and Tottenham, PSG, Chelsea and Barcelona are planning to revive their interest in him.

Moreover, Man Utd and Arsenal are in this race, with the Gunners assessing striker options, and have already made contact to learn about the details of signing the 20-year-old.

However, the report state that with Kroupi’s existing deal set to run until 2030, Bournemouth have no intention of letting him leave in January and are delighted to have him back.

Kroupi to Arsenal

Kroupi is a centre-forward by trait but is also comfortable in the second striker role. He possesses poacher instinct inside the box, has an eye for scoring goals from distance and works hard without possession.

The Frenchman, valued at around £58m by Transfermarkt, is a talented player and possesses high potential. He has even shown glimpses of his qualities in the Premier League in recent times. Therefore, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him.

Despite selling Gabriel Jesus last summer, the North London club decided not to purchase a new striker. So, Mikel Arteta currently has Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres as No.9 options.

However, the duo has displayed inconsistent performances in recent times, scoring only four goals combined thus far this season. So, Arsenal could do with signing a new forward.

It is going to be interesting to see whether Arteta’s side eventually manage to lure Kroupi to the Emirates Stadium in January or next summer.
