Arsenal keeping tabs on Leverkusen’s Ibrahim Maza

By on October 30, 2026

Arsenal are reportedly keeping a close eye on Bayer Leverkusen star Ibrahim Maza, as per TEAMtalk.

After winning the Premier League title last term, the Gunners have enjoyed a stellar start this season, accumulating 21 points from eight league matches.

They are currently second in the table on goal difference, with Manchester City the league leaders. However, Mikel Arteta’s side endured a disappointing defeat against fourth-tier team Fleetwood Town in the Carabao Cup in midweek.

Meanwhile, with the winter window approaching fast, the North London club have seemingly started exploring options to strengthen the squad and help Arteta defend the title.

Now, TEAMtalk state that Arsenal are keeping a close eye on Maza’s performances, with the Gunners holding a long-standing interest in the 20-year-old.

However, the North London club will have to overcome stiff competition to seal the deal as Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Manchester City and Aston Villa have also been keeping a close eye on his development.

On the other hand, Paris Saint-Germain have identified Maza as a serious option to replace Khvicha Kvaratshelia, who is set to be unavailable for selection for several months due to a serious knee problem.

Maza to Arsenal

The report state that with the player’s existing deal set to run until 2030, Leverkusen don’t want to part ways with him and want to tie him down to a fresh term with a salary hike.

Maza, valued at around £42m by Transfermarkt, is a technically gifted right-footed creative midfielder but can provide cover in the box-to-box role if needed. Furthermore, he is comfortable on the flanks.

Arsenal currently have Martin Odegaard and Eberechi Eze as specialist creative midfielders. Moreover, Mikel Merino and Max Dowman can provide cover in this position if needed.

So, the Emirates club don’t need a new CAM but could do with signing a new left-winger. Maza is a talented player and possesses high potential. Therefore, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually manage to secure his services by defeating other clubs in this race.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are set to take on Liverpool in the Premier League this weekend before taking on Slavia Praha in the Champions League next week.
