Expected Arsenal line-up against Sunderland

Arsenal are set to travel to the Stadium of Light to take on Sunderland in the Premier League tonight.

Having won the title last term, the Gunners have enjoyed a stellar start this season, winning the first three league encounters. They even lifted the Community Shield by defeating Manchester City 3-0 last month.

On the other hand, Mikel Arteta’s side defeated Napoli 1-0 courtesy of Martin Odegaard’s winner in the opening Champions League fixture in midweek.

Meanwhile, Sunderland will be coming into this game off the back of a 1-0 victory over Hull City in the EFL Cup. They have accumulated four points from three league matches.

Team news

Jurrien Timber has been out injured over the last few months, but he is edging closer to returning. However, William Saliba is unavailable for selection due to his back problem.

Cristhian Mosquera has been out in recent days, having sustained an issue vs Aston Villa. Therefore, the Spaniard is in doubt for this fixture. Ben White picked up a knock vs Napoli but is ready to feature tonight.

Predicted line-up

David Raya is expected to be in goal for the visitors, meaning Kepa Arrizabalaga and Illan Meslier would have to make do with a place on the bench.

In front of the Spaniard, Ezri Konsa is likely to be at the heart of defence, having displayed impressive performances in the last two matches. Gabriel Magalhaes would be alongside the Englishman.

White could continue in the right-back position, while Riccardo Calafiori should return to the starting line-up after a midweek break. In that case, Piero Hincapié might have to settle for a place on the bench.

Myles Lewis-Skelly is expected to commence in the defensive midfield position, and Declan Rice should keep hold of his place in the box-to-box role for Arsenal. So, Bruno Guimaraes, Mikel Merino and Martin Zubimendi may feature as substitutes if needed.

Odegaard is set to be in the creative midfield position, after enjoying a stellar start this season. On either side of the Norwegian, Christos Tzolis and Bukayo Saka might start on the flanks. Therefore, Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke would be among the substitutes.

Kai Havertz, valued at around £47m by Transfermarkt, is likely to lead the line for the North London club. Therefore, Viktor Gyokeres would return to the bench having started in midweek.
