Arsenal could reportedly launch a late swoop to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, as per the Independent.

After cashing in on Leandro Trossard, the Gunners have decided to reinforce the left flank by purchasing Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge this summer.

Apart from the Greek, Arsenal currently have Gabriel Martinelli as an option to deploy on the left flank, but he is closing in on a move to Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal.

Now, the Independent report that as a potential replacement for the Brazilian, Arsenal are interested in Rashford and could make a late move to sign him on a temporary deal.

The 28-year-old is valued at around £34m by Transfermarkt and remains under contract until 2028. United previously refused to allow Rashford to rejoin Barcelona on loan and could reject Arsenal’s loan proposal as well if they submit one.

Rashford is a right-footed left-winger by trait but is also comfortable on the opposite side. He can even provide cover in the CF position if needed, and Mikel Arteta likes having versatile players.

After moving to Camp Nou last summer, the Englishman mainly featured as a rotational option. Still, he showcased his productivity, scoring 14 goals and registering 11 assists across all competitions last term.

Rashford to Arsenal

Having enjoyed a resurgence in La Liga, Rashford secured his place in England’s World Cup squad, helping his country reach the semi-final before losing to Argentina.

Rashford is quick, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, has an eye for scoring goals from distance, and is efficient at taking set-pieces.

Moreover, he has an eye for long-range passing, can deliver excellent crosses from the flanks, and is efficient at taking penalties. Rashford is a talented player and is currently at the prime stage of his career.

Therefore, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services.

Meanwhile, Tzolis has enjoyed a promising start this season, making two goal contributions in as many appearances. Moreover, he made three goal contributions in four pre-season matches.
