Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a move to sign Barcelona forward Ferran Torres, as per the Daily Mail.

After joining Manchester City from Valencia, the 26-year-old won a Premier League title and Carabao Cup before moving to Camp Nou back in 2022.

The forward has enjoyed great success with the Blaugrana, winning three La Liga titles and several domestic cup competitions.

He has mainly featured as a rotational option for the Catalan giants; still, he showed glimpses of his qualities over the last couple of years. In 31 starts across all competitions, Torres scored 21 goals and registered three assists last term.

Having showcased his productivity in La Liga, the 26-year-old secured his place in Spain’s World Cup squad. He helped his country become World champions by scoring the winner against Argentina in the final.

Now, the Daily Mail report that with Torres’ existing deal set to expire at the end of next season, he is considering leaving Barcelona to take a new challenge in his career. Arsenal are interested in signing him, but Paris Saint-Germain are currently the frontrunners in this race.

He is a versatile forward as he can play anywhere across the frontline. However, Torres has been showcasing his best as a striker in recent years.

He is quick, good in the air, technically sound, can link up the play, and is efficient in playing threading passes between the lines; moreover, he works hard without possession. The forward is a talented player and is currently at the prime stage of his career.

Despite winning the Premier League title last term, the Gunners struggled to score goals from open play. So, they are said to be planning to revamp the frontline.

A plethora of names have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, with Torres being among them. He is familiar with the Premier League’s physicality, having previously played for Man City.

So, the Spaniard might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to lure Torres to the Emirates Stadium ahead of next season.
