Arsenal receive boost to sign Liverpool target Barcola
Arsenal have received a huge boost to trump Liverpool in the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola, as per The Sun Sport journalist Konstantinos Lianos.
Although the Gunners won the Premier League title last term, they struggled to score goals from open play. As a result, Mikel Arteta has seemingly prioritised revamping the attacking department this summer.
Following Leandro Trossard’s impending move to Besiktas, the North London club currently have Gabriel Martinelli as the only specialist option for the left flank.
However, the Brazilian displayed inconsistent performances last term and has entered the final year of his current contract. So, his long-term future at the Emirates Stadium is currently uncertain.
Now, on X, Lianos(via Givemesport) reports that Arsenal are interested in signing Barcola but have been unable to make progress on a deal because the player has been focused on the World Cup with France.
Paris Saint-Germain don’t want to part ways with him, with his existing deal set to run until 2028, and are willing to tie him down to a fresh long-term contract.
However, if Les Parisiens eventually fail to agree on a fresh term with him, they might be open to cashing-in on him this summer. In that case, Arsenal are currently the frontrunners to secure his services.
Barcola to Arsenal
Alongside the Premier League champions, Liverpool are in this race and are also considered the leading candidates to seal the deal.
However, the Frenchman would prefer to live in London if he were to leave the French capital. So, this is a huge boost for Arsenal to beat Liverpool in this race.
But the journalist mentions that the north London club have prioritised purchasing Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers to bolster their frontline, rather than Barcola.
The PSG star, valued at around £60m by Transfermarkt, has showcased his productivity for PSG over the last couple of years but has failed to break into Luis Enrique’s starting line-up in big Champions League matches.
He is a left-winger by trait and possesses the necessary attributes to become a top-class forward in the future. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they eventually opt to secure his services this summer.
