Arsenal are reportedly ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign AFC Bournemouth forward Eli Junior, as per Football Insider.

After moving to Vitality Stadium from Lorient, the 19-year-old enjoyed a promising debut campaign in the Premier League last term, scoring 13 goals in 21 starts.

The youngster has the ability to step up in big games, scoring in both league meetings against Manchester United and Arsenal. He also netted against Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

The Frenchman’s recent eye-catching performances haven’t gone unnoticed as he has been attracting a lot of attention in this transfer window.

Now, Football Insider state that despite already splashing over £200m this summer, Roberto De Zerbi is keen on spending more money, and Tottenham have identified Kroupi as a top target to reinforce the frontline.

With the player’s existing deal set to run until 2030, Bournemouth want around £100mto sell him, and Tottenham might struggle to sign him by matching the asking price.

So, Arsenal are currently ahead of the Lilywhites in this race, with the Gunners also considering reinforcing the attacking department during this offseason.

Kroupi to Arsenal

The report state that alongside Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain are also in this race as they want a new No.9 after selling Goncalo Ramos to AC Milan.

Arsenal currently have Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres as options to deploy in the centre-forward position. However, the Brazilian’s long-term future is currently uncertain as he has entered the final year of his current contract.

Moreover, he has had fitness problems over the last few years. Alongside Jesus, Havertz has also struggled with injury issues in recent months.

Gyokeres was purchased last summer to address their striker problems. However, he failed to find his feet in the Premier League last term. So, it appears Arsenal are considering upgrading this position.

Kroupi is a centre-forward by trait but is also comfortable in the second striker role. He is quick, has an eye for scoring goals from distance, and possesses poacher instinct inside the box. He is a highly talented player and showed glimpses of his qualities last term.

So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually manage to secure Kroupi’s services this summer.
