Arsenal plotting audacios swoop to sign Arda Guler

Arsenal are closely monitoring Real Madrid attacking midfielder Arda Güler ahead of a possible summer move, according to Sports Boom.

Güler emerged as one of Europe’s most sought-after young talents during his spell at Fenerbahçe, but it was Madrid who successfully secured his signature in 2023.

The 21-year-old adapted quickly to life at the Santiago Bernabéu, registering eight goal involvements during his first season before establishing himself as a regular member of the senior squad in the years that followed.

His influence on Los Blancos was particularly evident in the recently concluded campaign, during which he contributed 6 goals and 14 assists across all competitions.

That return ranked him third among Real Madrid players for total goal involvements, and he most notably scored a Puskás-worthy worldie in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg against Bayern Munich.

With transfer activity already gathering pace, the versatile midfielder is expected to generate strong interest from several clubs ahead of next season.

One of the clubs looking to sign Güler is Arsenal, according to Sports Boom, which reports that the Gunners are closely monitoring his situation ahead of a possible summer switch.

Audacious swoop

The Gunners are looking to bolster their midfield ranks and believe Güler’s age and technical qualities are a viable fit for Mikel Arteta’s squad next season, according to the report.

However, Arsenal are set to face stern competition to sign the attacking midfielder, as Sports Boom reports that Premier League rivals Liverpool and Chelsea, who are considering a £100m offer, are also keen on the Turkish international.

Although Arsenal currently possess considerable depth in midfield, long-term succession planning remains an important part of Mikel Arteta’s squad-building strategy. The midfield is among the most experienced areas of the team, with Ethan Nwaneri the only established option under 26, making 21-year-old Güler an attractive prospect.

Arteta has previously highlighted the value of unpredictability and versatility within his side. Adding Güler’s profile would help serve that objective. His versatility allows him to operate in multiple attacking and creative roles, giving Arsenal greater tactical flexibility and variation in the final third.
