Arsenal could make a move to sign Crysencio Summerville
Arsenal could reportedly make a move to sign West Ham United forward Crysencio Summerville, as per a recent report.
After joining Leeds United back in 2021, the 24-year-old initially took time to settle into his new surroundings. Following the Peacocks’ relegation, the youngster showcased his best in the Championship during the 2023/24 campaign, making 30 goal contributions across all competitions.
Having been impressed by Summerville’s performances, the Hammers decided to purchase him a couple of years ago. However, he couldn’t serve his new club properly during his debut campaign due to a serious hamstring problem.
This season, although West Ham have failed to avoid relegation, Summerville has shown glimpses of his qualities, making 10 goal contributions across all competitions.
After being attracted by the youngster’s recent eye-catching performances, Ronald Koeman has included him in the Netherlands national team for this summer’s World Cup.
Now, as per a recent report (via Sport Witness), following West Ham’s relegation, Summerville is unlikely to stay, and several top clubs have expressed their interest in him, with Arsenal among them.
Apart from the North London club, Liverpool could make a move to seal the deal. Moreover, Raphinha may ask Barcelona to sign Summerville as the South American knows the 24-year-old well, having previously played together at Leeds.
Summerville to Arsenal
Summerville is valued at around £26m by Transfermarkt and still has a contract until 2029. So, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are expected to demand a big fee to sell him.
Summerville likes to play on the left wing. He is quick, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, is efficient in finishing off his chances, and also works hard without possession.
Arsenal currently have Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard as options to deploy on the left flank. Moreover, Noni Madueke can provide cover in this position if needed, although he is a right-winger by trait.
However, Martinelli and Leandro have displayed average performances this season. So, it has been widely documented that the Emirates club are keen on upgrading the left flank.
Summerville is a Premier League-proven player and could be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future should they purchase him.
