Arsenal now eyeing swoop for Augsburg’s exciting starlet Noahkai Banks
Arsenal have expressed interest in signing Augsburg’s highly rated centre-back Noahkai Banks next summer, according to Sky Sports.
The youngster produced a breakout 2025/26 campaign after earning the confidence of Sandro Wagner, Augsburg’s first head coach of the season. He went on a run of 13 straight starts between September and January, delivering a series of highly impressive performances.
He initially retained his place under Wagner’s successor, Manuel Baum, but a dip in results led to Banks being sacrificed and eventually dropped to the bench. In the final nine Bundesliga matches of the season, he played fewer than 90 minutes in total after Baum settled on a preferred defensive structure.
Even so, that late reduction in game time does little to diminish the fact that the teenage centre-back stood out as one of the more impressive young performers in Germany last season.
While his 90.1% successful passing rate has garnered much plaudits, he is also physical in duels, making him a good fit for English football.
As such, Premier League champions Arsenal are now showing interest in signing the 19-year-old in the summer, according to Sky Sports.
The report adds that the Gunners have been scouting Banks, and their entourage has been at Augsburg’s WWK Arena to watch the 6ft 3in colossus in action.
Exciting prospect
Arsenal view the exciting United States centre-back as an exciting prospect for the future but will also have to ward off keen interest from other interested clubs, Sky Sports adds.
Since Andrea Berta assumed the role of sporting director, Arsenal have placed equal emphasis on strengthening the senior squad and intensifying their recruitment of emerging young prospects, already bringing in a number of highly regarded talents into their academy structure.
Prior to the closure of the winter transfer window, the North London club secured the signatures of Colombian twins Edwin Quintero and Holger Quintero while also reinforcing their youth ranks with additions such as Jaden Dixon and Evan Mooney.
Throughout the current campaign, Mikel Arteta has continued to integrate Hale End’s brightest prospects into senior involvement, with Max Dowman, Marli Solomon, Andre Harriman Annous, Ife Ibrahim, Brando Bailey-Joseph, and Marli Salmon all making their first-team debuts this season.
Having enjoyed a standout breakout campaign in the German top flight, Banks, valued at £19m by Transfermarkt, could be another exciting addition to Arsenal’s growing list of young prospects being developed for the future of the club.
