Arsenal interested in signing Bournemouth’s Kroupi
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing AFC Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi, as per the Independent.
After being impressed by the 20-year-old’s performances for Lorient, the Cherries decided to sign him last winter, but he didn’t move to the Vitality Stadium until the summer.
Initially, he featured as a rotational option under formal manager Andoni Iraola last term, but following Antoine Semenyo’s move to Manchester City in January, he played regularly.
Kroupi made 33 Premier League appearances last season, with 21 coming as a starter, scoring 13 goals. He has the tendency to step up in big games, netting against Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.
However, the Frenchman has sustained a serious foot injury and is set to remain sidelined for several months. Now, the Independent report that after being impressed by Kroupi’s recent development at Bournemouth, Arsenal expressed their interest in signing him this summer.
But they had to postpone their plan due to his injury. The Gunners remain keen on him and could make a move to secure his services in the winter window.
Having recently moved to Vitality Stadium, Kroupi has a contract until 2030. So, Marco Rose’s side are in a strong position to demand a big fee if they are forced to cash in on him next year, with the forward valued at around £60m by Transfermarkt.
Kroupi to Arsenal
Kroupi is a CF by trait but can also be deployed as a second striker. He is quick, can link up the play, has the ability to score emphatic goals from distance and possesses a poacher’s instinct inside the box.
Arsenal currently have Viktor Gyokeres, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus as striker options. However, Jesus has had numerous fitness problems over the years and has entered the final year of his current deal.
On the other hand, Gyokeres displayed inconsistent performances last term, while Havertz has also had injury issues in recent months.
Kroupi is a highly talented player and has shown glimpses of his qualities in the Premier League in recent months. So, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future should they purchase him next year.
