Arsenal eye move to sign Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen

By on August 22, 2026

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen, as per French outlet Foot Mercato.

After helping Napoli win the Serie A title, the 27-year-old joined Cimbom. Initially, he moved to Rams Park Stadyumu on loan in 2024 before the deal became permanent the following year.

During the 2024/25 campaign, the Nigerian showcased his productivity, scoring 37 goals and registering seven assists across all competitions. He also delivered strong performances last term, making 28 goal contributions across all tournaments.

He has helped the Turkish giants win two Super Lig titles and a domestic cup competition over the last two seasons. Having proven his worth in club football, Osimhen has established himself as the Nigerian national team’s talismanic figure.

Now, Foot Mercato state that Arsenal are considering strengthening the striker position late in this transfer window and have earmarked Julian Alvarez as a serious option.

However, the South American star doesn’t want to return to England as he is keen on joining Barcelona. So Arsenal have decided to explore alternatives and have identified Osimhen as a key target.

The North London club have already held talks with Galatasaray over a potential swoop as Mikel Arteta admires the forward very much. But finalising the operation won’t be straightforward, with his existing deal set to run until 2029.

Osimhen to Arsenal

The report state that Osimhen is currently on a very high wage, and Arsenal don’t want to sign him by matching that. They have been keeping a close eye on his situation and are hoping that the forward will lower his demands.

Osimhen is a 6ft 1in tall right-footed striker. He is quick, strong, good in the air, efficient in finishing off his chances, and works hard without possession.

He is a top-class player and is currently at the prime stage of his career. He even possesses the necessary physical attributes to flourish in the Premier League.

Therefore, Osimhen might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to reinforce the frontline by purchasing the Galatasaray star this summer.
