Arsenal showing ‘serious interest’ in signing Bournmemouth midfielder Alex Scott

Arsenal are showing a ‘serious interest’ in signing Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott in the summer, according to TEAMtalk.

After his switch from Bristol City in 2023, Scott’s early period in the Premier League was hampered by a series of injury issues, including an MCL problem as well as a meniscus injury.

Since returning to full fitness, the youngster has developed into one of the league’s most exciting midfield talents.

In the current campaign, Bournemouth sit sixth in the table and have secured a historic European qualification after a strong second-half surge, during which they have gone 17 games unbeaten—the longest unbeaten run across Europe’s top five leagues this season.

At the heart of that revival has been Scott, who has become a consistent presence in the midfield for Andoni Iraola’s side. The 22-year-old has featured in all 37 Premier League matches for the Cherries and scored decisive goals in 2–1 away wins over Arsenal and Newcastle United last month.

After helping the Gunners secure the Premier League title with a tireless performance in the 1-1 draw with Manchester City, it appears the club are now looking to add him to their squad, as TEAMtalk claims that the north Londoners have shown ‘serious interest’ in signing Scott next summer.

‘Serious interest’

With a contract at the Vitality Stadium running until 2028, as well as his recent surge in form, signing the 22-year-old won’t be easy. It’s no surprise the report adds that it’ll only take a significant fee of around £60m to sign the youngster from Bournemouth, who are also keen on extending his contract.

However, Arsenal will have to battle with several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and Manchester City, in the race to sign the English midfielder in the summer, according to the report.

Despite an array of midfield options, there’s still a clear need for a quality addition in the middle of the park, especially with Christian Nørgaard expected to leave.

Although he has been a third backup option, the Norwegian has proven reliable whenever called upon, particularly during Arsenal’s injury-hit festive period, where he was deployed at centre-back.

However, he is set to turn 33 by March, and his performances in midfield in the FA Cup defeat against Southampton suggest the Gunners could do with a younger, more dynamic, quality midfielder, making Scott a solid option.
