Arsenal have expressed interest in signing RB Leipzig left winger Antonio Nusa next summer, according to Fussballdaten.

Nusa came through the ranks at the Norwegian side Stabæk before moving to Belgium to join Club Brugge in the summer of 2021.

It was with the Jupiler Pro League side that the youngster came to the limelight, where he made 86 appearances and played key roles in their 2021-22 and 2023-24 league triumphs as well as the 2022-23 Belgian Super Cup victory.

At 17 years, 4 months, and 27 days old, he most notably netted in the 4-0 win over FC Porto in September 2022 to become the youngest ever Norwegian to play in the UEFA Champions League and the second youngest to score in the competition.

Following his move to Leipzig in the summer of 2024, Nusa has continued his meteoric rise, becoming a key player for the team, especially in the ongoing campaign, where his nine goal contributions, along with impeccable attacking displays, have helped the club secure Champions League qualifications for next season.

It appears his performances have not gone unnoticed, as Fussballdaten reports that Nusa has received ‘serious approaches’ from several clubs in the Premier League, including Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta keen on Nusa

The report adds that the Gunners’ boss Mikel Arteta is keen on adding the youngster to his squad due to his versatility and tactical nous, with the club now closely monitoring him ahead of a possible summer swoop.

However, with three years left in his contract, the Red Bulls are in no rush to cash in on Nusa, but the need for more cash injection in their squad means a £47m fee could seal the deal amid Arsenal’s interest, as per the report.

For a player of the Norwegian’s quality, several clubs would be keen on signing him, and it’s no surprise Fussballdaten adds that the north Londoners are set to face stern competition from Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan and Napoli in the race for the exciting 21-year-old winger.

Despite always being a threat, especially when cutting inside and driving at defenders, it is worth noting that the left winger’s output in the final third has been underwhelming, having failed to net up to five league goals in a single top-flight campaign.

Although his 3.01 successful dribbles per 90 minutes surpass the 1.65 recorded by Gabriel Martinelli, his £47m valuation remains steep and would be better spent on a more prolific and experienced option in the summer.
