Arsenal now eyeing move for Club Brugge left-back Joaquin Seys
Arsenal are in talks to sign Club Brugge left-back Joaquin Seys next summer, according to Sports Boom.
Mikel Arteta currently has Riccardo Calafiori, Myles Lewis-Skelly, and Piero Hincapié as left-back options within his Arsenal squad.
Although Hincapié is on loan from Bayer Leverkusen, the expectation remains that the deal will be made permanent at the end of the season. That leaves Arsenal well covered in the position, particularly with Jurrien Timber also capable of operating there when needed.
However, uncertainty surrounding Lewis-Skelly’s future could create room for another addition in the summer window, with Seys now emerging as a potential target.
The 21-year-old has been a revelation for Brugge since establishing himself as a first-team regular in the 2024-25 campaign.
He has been a regular for Ivan Leko’s league-chasing side, featuring in 29 of their 34 Jupiler Pro League games, and has also provided 11 goal contributions in 49 games across all competitions, with his displays catching the eye.
According to Sports Boom, several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, have been closely watching Seys, with the clubs’ scouts present at recent games against Westerlo and Mechelen.
The report adds that the Belgian’s ability to operate on both flanks is highly regarded by the Gunners, who are now eyeing a summer swoop.
Arteta targets new left-back
It appears Arsenal are looking to accelerate their efforts to sign the exciting left-back, as Sports Boom claims the north London club have made enquiries with the player’s camp, with club-to-club talks expected to be initiated when the transfer window opens.
While Brugge’s £26-£30m valuation would appeal to the Premier League leaders, they will have to battle Manchester United and Aston Villa for Seys, according to the report.
After losing back-to-back games to Bournemouth and Manchester City with the same 2-1 scoreline, Arsenal will hope to avoid losing three consecutive games since April 2022 when they host Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Following the Cityzens’ 1-0 win over Burnley on Wednesday, Mikel Arteta’s side now sit second in the Premier League table but are level on 70 points with Pep Guardiola’s side, who climbed to first after winning their outstanding game.
With City not featuring in league action this weekend, Arsenal are under added pressure to secure all three points, as any slip-up against the Magpies would add a further blow to their title hopes.
